What do I expect at the Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf?

Can we bring minors under 18 years old?
The event is designed for business purposes. We don’t provide a daycare program and babysitting service. Your attendance will be valued and focused as much in case if you leave your minors with a supervised adult in a hotel room or home. FYI, we do not carry any liability for wrongful action and damages that caused by minors or adults in a hotel room and site.
You carry own full liability with your minors during the BCED. We do not carry any liability with your minors visits with you at the hotel room and location.
Does the BCED offer kids program?
Unfortunately, we don’t intend to do this. Omni Hotel Galleria offers kids program. You may arrange directly with the Omni Hotel Galleria.
Are young people at least 18 years old allowed to attend the event?
Yes, the event may impact their attendance positively in order to plan the vital future in their career or entrepreneurship goals.
Their attendance (for 18-21 years old) is strictly required parents’s liability and permission for their children’s attendance and stay at the hotel. Parents are liable fully for their minors’ stay at the hotel.
Damages including vandalism and violations against Federal, State, and local laws, hotel and BCED policies. Attending/unattending parents and young attendees carry own responsibilities, charges, and pay in full for their losses, damages and causes.

Are business school students welcome to the Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf? What benefits business school students would receive there?
Business School students are very welcome. They would receive a student registration package at a special rate with valid student ID. The special rate for students is only available at early bird and regular season.
They can buy the package online at our website. The revoked and expired student ID cards are not qualified for the special student rate.
The Business School students are pursuing for their careers in business, finance, and management as the event is ideal for them to learn, develop, analyze, brainstorm, and bring their values home for academic achievements, school paperworks, studies, research projects, practices, experience, knowledge, and skills development.
Are international visitors welcome to the BCED?
Absolutely, the event would be crucial for business deaf owners, deaf future entrepreneurs, and business deaf educators who are seeking for small business education benefits.

What official language is at the 1st Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf?
The Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf official languages are American Sign Language and Written English.
What is the dress code?
Appropriate business attire is required for all sessions, network meetings, and ceremonies except evening entertainment and recreation programs, and Sunday program. Exceptions may be made for religious or medical reasons.
Can I cancel my registration? Can I transfer my registration to my family member or business partner or friend?
Registration packages are refundable until March 26, 2010. Registrations submitted after March 26, 2010 are nonrefundable. Registrations are non transferable.
Registration cancellations with refund will be accepted, a processing fee $100 will be charged from the original transcription, in writing and received no later than March 26, 2010.
Written notice of cancellation should be sent only by email and should be sent before midnight Central Time (CST) March 26, 2010.

Attendees who register prior to or after the deadline date, who do not cancel in writing by the deadline date are liable for the registration cost and will be charged for the full registration fee. No refunds are available for no shows.
Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf reserves the right to rescind any registration and, in that event, will return 100% of the registration fee. All dates and times of The Business Convention and Expo of the Deaf are subject to change.
Can I downgrade or upgrade my registration package?
No downgrades. Upgrades are available. Your request for upgrade must be submitted in written and provide your payment information and specify the difference value.
Does the BCED offer any recreation program?
Omni hotel has a tennis court including outdoor swimming pool at the hotel site. Also, jogging in Memorial Park and Sunday retreat program with recreation activities.
What should I know about the hotel rules?
PORTERAGE
In the event that you have a group arrival or group departure, a porterage charge of $5.00 per person per way will apply. This fee includes a maximum of 2 bags per person.
EARLY DEPARTURE FEES
In the event a guest who has requested a room within your block checks out prior to the guest’s reserved checkout date, the hotel will add an early checkout fee in the amount equal to one night room and tax to that guest’s individual account. Guests wishing to avoid an early checkout fee should advise the Omni Houston Hotel at or before check-in of any change in planned length of stay. The Omni Houston Hotel will inform guests of this potential charge upon check-in and requests. The Omni Houston Hotel will deduct any collected early departure fees from the amount you may owe as performance damages.
CHECK-IN/OUT TIME
Our check-in time is 3:00 pm, check-out time is 12:00 noon. All guests arriving before 3:00 pm will be accommodated as rooms become available. Our Guest Service staff can arrange to check baggage for those arriving early when rooms are unavailable and for guests attending functions on departure day.
